*** Pics From Motorcycle Trip To Sugarloaf Mountain, Florida ***
*******************************************************************
My Girlfriend Anji and I took a motorcycle trip to Sugarloaf Mountain last weekend. It's supposedly the highest point in Florida (300+ feet), but I'm pretty sure that the actual highest point is a landfill somewhere near Miami. You gotta love Florida! It was a perfect day outside, and the roads were amazing. I would definitely recommend this ride to anyone who has a motorcycle, and is looking for someplace fun to ride in FL. We were riding the Kawasaki Ninja 250EX.

The Ninja is gassed up, and ready to go! This motorcycle gets about 300 miles to the tank, which holds 4.9 gallons of gas. Normally I only need to fill it up once a month for around $15.00 (A good thing in this day and age!) Read more about the Kawasaki Ninja 250 |
Here's a map of the route we took.We headed northwest then looped back around to the southeast. The radioactive "end of the road" symbol is from a place that was shut down due to DDT pesticide problems (at least that's what a sign said). |
Toxic area |
Of course we immediately crossed this fence and went for a closer look. |
View from the top of Sugarloaf Mountain towards lake Apopka. We are standing above everyone else in the entire state of Florida right now, and it feels pretty great! |
Anji exploring the wilderness (actually most of the place is a housing subdivision except for this field). Anji is quite an accomplished traditional artist. You can check out some of Anji's paintings if you're interested. |
The largest ant hill ever! I think the whole mountain is one giant ant hill. Look at the size of that ant! |
King of the hill! |
I found this slash in my tire when we got home. I guess I hit something sharp on the way. |
I'm glad this tire didn't blow out while we were on the bike. I went ahead and ordered a new set of Pirelli Sport Demons, which should be a huge improvement over the stock tires. |
The trip was almost exactly 90 miles from my garage, back to my garage. |

I wrote an article for Motorcycleroads.com about this trip, which goes into more detail about the road quality, and has a map with detailed directions. It's a cool site to find out where the good roads are. |
